About Us

Our journey with the silken windhound began as we were searching for another hound following the loss of Scooter, our long haired lurcher. Scooter was such a wonderful natured dog and we felt it would be hard to replace her. Little did we know!
By chance, we came across the Silken Windhounds in America and with further research discovered there were a small number in the UK. After some more intensive fact finding sessions and email exchanges we ventured to Devon to meet Hilary and Martin of Kushbudar Silken Windhounds. From that day on we were under their spell, these majestic hounds just melted our hearts, so graceful and gentle yet athletic and fast. Of course it is easy to get carried away so we invited Hilary and Martin to visit our home for the weekend along with some of their silkens. We wanted to be sure this type of dog would fit into our live's plus providing the opportunity to interact and learn more about them.
Kushbudhar guided us to Pengybrook Kennels. Another road trip, this time to Essex. Soon after we were delighted to welcome the Pengybrook team to Wales who brought with them our first Silken Windhound, the beautiful Mayzee. Before long we felt she needed a companion (one is never enough!) and with the help from the UK silken community we were honoured that Winsome Silken Windhounds in America agreed to send one of their puppies to us, hence the arrival of Yvee.
We have now bred two silken windhound litters - a litter from each of our foundation girls - taking great care in choosing the right stud dog to compliment each. Our breeding focus is to produce silkens which are constructively sound and correct, following the breed standard alongside good health and temperaments. We also enjoy maintaining relationships with our puppy owners and watching them progress as they grow
Through our journey we have achieved some amazing milestones. Louise travelled to SilkenFest 2016 where she was able to participate in ISWS seminars, have exposure to the large number of Silkens in America and visit Kristull Ranch, the founding kennel of the silken. Spending time with the breed founder, who was so willing to share knowledge, was a great educational experience. We have also travelled to Germany, Slovenia and back across the UK to exhibit, with all doing extremely well, and have also participated in a little racing. In 2020 we have discovered further opportunities and are now training our silkens on the oval track. Teyha is showing exceptional aptitude!
We were thrilled to be the proud owners of the first Silken Windhounds in Wales, which has since grown to a small pack! They have enhanced our lives in so many ways, and through them have met many other Silken Windhound owners who are like minded and share our same passion
We are both members of the UKSWC and the ISWS.

Living within an area of outstanding beauty we are fortunate to have a number of award winning beaches close by. The silkens spend many happy hours on these, either as a family unit or meeting up with visiting friends. Below are a couple of youtube clips from the earlier years:
